How GST is calculated

Adding GST: GST = base × rate%, total = base + GST. Removing GST from an inclusive price: base = total ÷ (1 + rate%). Within a state the tax splits equally into CGST and SGST; across states it's charged as IGST in full.

Which GST rate applies to my product?

Rates depend on the HSN/SAC code of the item. 18% covers most services and goods; essentials are 0–5%; luxury and sin goods are 28% (plus cess on some items like cars and tobacco).

What changed with GST 2.0?
